Billie Gene Rives, a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on August 6th at the age of 97. She and her twin brother were born September 14, 1926 in Cleburne, Texas to Van and Emma Martin. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Kingsville and the West Shore Baptist Church in Sandia. She was also a member of the Ladies Bible study in Sandia.
Billie Gene attended North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. She received her BS and MS from Texas A&I University in Kingsville. She was a retired elementary teacher and elementary consultant for CCISD. After retiring, she was an adjunct professor for Corpus Christi State University supervising student teachers. She had belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma, Sellers Market, the Porcelain Art Clubs of Kingsville, the Stitch and Bitch Club, The Texas Retired Teachers Association and the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years Gus Rives, son, Keith and her brother Eugene Martin.
She is survived by her son Randy (Mary Jean) Rives, two granddaughters Stacie (David) Nail and Taylor (Jason) Clark, 2 great-grandchildren Breann (Alex) Neely and Justyn (Alliyah) Meyer 4 great-great grandchildren Lili “Crashie” Monsevais, Wesley & RJ Neely and Reid Meyer niece Gina Petkovich great-nephew & niece Jerrett Greer and Jett Petkovich.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Friday august 16th at Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville. A memorial may be made to Pan de Vida Women and Children Shelter 1474 W. Price #380 Brownsville, TX 78520.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary.
