Billie Buckalew

Billie Jean Cross Buckalew, age 85, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Friday, August 25, 2017. Billie was born January 10, 1932 in San Antonio, TX to Thomas Jefferson and Adeline Rankin Cross. Prior to moving to Kingsville, Billie worked in the insurance business in San Antonio. After her marriage to Arnold Buckalew on August 9, 1959, she made her home in Kingsville. Billie worked various jobs in Kingsville before opening her business in 1973. Buckalew Employment Services, Inc was her pride and joy. Mrs. Buckalew secured jobs for so many in her community and was a role model and mentor to all those who worked in her office. Known to many as "Mrs. B", Billie always welcomed the "kids" into her home. She gave advice and suggestions and you always left feeling better about yourself. She saw the good in everyone, but didn't mind "setting you straight" when needed! She was slow to anger and quick to forgive. Mrs. B. will be missed by so many.
Billie is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Adeline Cross, husband of 53 years of marriage, Arnold Buckalew, sister, Lou Braendle, and two brothers, Thomas Cross Jr. and Joe Cross.
She is survived by her two children; Tommy (Jane) Buckalew of Kingsville,Texas and LouAnn (Carey) Smith of Galveston, Texas, three grandchildren, Cole Buckalew of Kingsville,Tx, Russell (Tiffani) Schwirtlich of Van Vleck, Tx and Brooke (Bret DiGiovanni) Schwirtlich of Spring,Tx, and one great grandchild, Wyatt Schwirtlich of Van Vleck, Tx. Special Friends Sandra Hicks, Patty Reese, and Barbara Goode.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Graveside Service will be Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chamberlain Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
