Beverly Lanmon

Beverly Ann Collier Lanmon was born to John and Velma Collier in Seguin, Texas on December 13, 1951. She joined her father, John and brother Michael, who preceded her in death on, May 4, 2016 . Beverly's life was filled with love and service to others.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 43 years Forrest W. Lanmon. Two children, son Patrick W. Lanmon and wife Katy of Nacogdoches, TX and daughter Valerie A. Vavrusa and husband Bo of Alice, TX. Five grandchildren, Griffin, Emery, and Ensley Lanmon and Lily and Westin Vavrusa. Her mother Velma Collier of Bishop, TX. Two sisters, Peggy Lundmark and husband Donald of Bishop, TX and Janet Chaddock of Divine, TX. One sister-in-law, Sharon McGee and husband Charles of La Vernia, TX and several nieces and nephews. Generosity and laughter marked her relationships.
Beverly graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville in December, 1973 with a Bachelor's of Science in Education and a specialization in Kindergarten. She began her teaching career in January of 1974 at St. Gertrude Catholic School and taught kindergarten, first, fourth, and fifth grades. She later earned her Master's Degree in Catholic School Leadership, with Distinguished Honors, from St. May's University in San Antonio, TX. After 29 years of classroom service she became principal of St. Gertrude's School. She retired her position there and taught one more year at St. Elizabeth's Catholic School in Alice, TX completing 41 years in Catholic education. In her walk with God, she touched many people.
She was a member of the Woman's Club of Kingsville, Sponsor of the Bluebonnet Drama Club, member of the Tejas Dance Club, served on accreditation teams for the Diocese of Corpus Christi, and was a long time parishioner of St. Gertrude's Catholic Church.
A Rosary will be recited at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Kingsville on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. with family receiving friends at 6:30 p.m. Memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to St. Gertrude's Catholic School.
