Bernice Mae Denkeler, age 89, a resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born May 30, 1925 in Bishop to Charles Dutschmann and Martha Handrick Dutschmann. Mrs. Denkeler was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bishop. She was a member of LWML and was a community center volunteer. She was also a member of the American Legion Womens Auxiliary, Bishop Post 185. Mrs. Denkeler was well known throughout the community for baking wedding cakes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Denkeler; parents; three brothers, Edwin Dutschmann, Erwin Dutschmann and Earl Dutschmann; and one sister, Nelda Felder.
Mrs. Denkeler is survived by four sons, Glenn R. Denkeler (Maxine) of Dickinson, Texas, Robert W. Denkeler (Jeannette) of Pleasanton, Texas, Mike R. Denkeler (JoAnn) and Clyde E. Denkeler, both of Bishop; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bishop, with Rev. Matthew T. Ulmer officiating. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery.
