Barbara Theiss

Barbara Ann Stanford Theiss, departing this life peacefully at the age of 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 4, 2017. She was born December 27, 1937 to Blake and Lillie Stanford of Driscoll, Texas. She married Roy L. Theiss of Bishop on September 12, 1955. Barbara was a life-long resident of Driscoll and a member of its Women's Club of Christian Service for many years. Baptized and confirmed, she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop serving on the bereavement committee and was active in the LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League). She enjoyed tacking quilts for Lutheran World Relief with her friends. She had recently moved into an assisted living apartment at Brookdale, Holmgreen Center in Corpus Christi. Although her stay was brief, she benefited greatly from the caring staff and activities, and especially enjoyed the crafts.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, her parents, and her brother, Jack Revell Stanford.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Estes (Glen) of Mathis and Nancy Golden (Everett) of Driscoll; two granddaughters, Stephanie Krause (Jason) and Nicole Smith (Walt) all of Corpus Christi; one great-grandson, Jesse Soliz and one great-granddaughter, Michelle Cervantes; a sister, Dorris Casey of Houston and a sister-in-law, Sue Stanford of Corpus Christi; also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 7 from 5 pm until 8 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop. Funeral Services will also be conducted at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop on Friday, September 8 at 10 am. Burial will follow at the Concordia Cemetery. Pall Bearers will be Glen Estes, Walt Smith, Jason Krause, Keith Bahn, David Bahn and John Keys, with Everett Golden and Gilbert Franke serving as honorary pall bearers.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church in her memory.
