Arturo R. Amaya, age 78, a resident of Riviera, Texas passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 at his residence. He was born November 29, 1938 in Riviera to Juan Manuel Amaya and Maria Amelia Reyna Amaya. Mr. Amaya was a professional dry wall specialist. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era.
Arturo was preceded in death by his wife, Leonor Rocha Amaya; parents; and sister, Gloria Amaya Villarreal.
Mr. Amaya is survived by his step-son, James Brown Sr. of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, Texas; three sisters, Dora A. Munoz (Enrique) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Stella Falkenhainer of Dallas, Texas and Maria Trager (Richard) of Seguin, Texas; one brother, Juan Manuel Amaya (Tina) of Houston, Texas; and three step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Immediately after the conclusion of the memorial service, military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Funeral Military Detail will take place outside of the mortuary building.
