Arnell R. Harlan

Her light will continue to shine brightly, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing her. Arnell Vernette Harlan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024. She was born in Bishop, Texas, on May 4, 1934. Arnell was a woman of steadfast faith, attending church every Sunday at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed, attended primary school through 8th grade, and married the love of her life.

Arnell's life centered around her family, whom she cherished dearly. She was a dedicated homemaker, who took pride in creating a warm and welcoming home for all those whom she loved. Arnell's most gratifying accomplishments included being a proud farmer's daughter, a loving farmer's wife, a nurturing farmer's mother, and a doting farmer's grandmother. Her commitment to her family was unwavering.

Known for her sweet and gentle nature, Arnell will also be remembered for her kind spirit and infectious laugh. She adored her boys and found immense joy in spending time with them as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arnell had a passion for animals, particularly birds. Furthermore, she truly enjoyed vacations at the Frio River since 1971, where she knew her ever-expanding family would be gathered.

In addition to being an excellent homemaker, Arnell was also a talented cook. She never failed to prepare delicious meals for her family and their friends. Arnell insisted on taking her fabulous, home-cooked meals to the boys in the field, as a wonderful farmer’s wife would do. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she always made sure there was plenty of food to go around.

Arnell leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and faithfulness that will be forever cherished by her loving family. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that she was deeply loved and shall be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of sharing in her life's journey.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Caroline (Melde) Remmert; and siblings, Dennis Remmert and Cyndee Remmert.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of nearly seventy years, Jack Harlan; loving sons, Steve (Vonnie) Harlan, Curt (Misty) Harlan, and Jay (Janet) Harlan; brother, Lyndal (Jane) Remmert; fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
