Angelita Rodriguez

Angelita V. Rodriguez went into the arms of the Lord on February 26, 2017 at the age of 76. Angelita was born on October 1, 1940 in Robstown, Texas to Daniel Vasquez, Sr. and Clara Ayala Vasquez. She went to her first dance and met Jose Rodriguez Jr. from Kingsville, Texas and they fell in love. She married Jose C. Rodriguez Jr. in 1961 and moved to Kingsville.
Angelita was a devout Catholic, a wife of 39 years, and a stay at home mother who raised six college educated children. She was an active parishioner at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Kingsville. She was known to many as the "candy apple lady" because of her delicious candy apples she made year after year for the church fiestas.
Angelita was a model of faith and works. She was active in the Cursillo Movement. For several years, she was also active in church missionary work traveling to Piedritas, Coahuila, Mexico and Ciudad Villagran, Tamaulipas, Mexico and spreading the word of God. On these missionary trips, she would sometimes dress up as a clown to entertain the children. She loved to share her faith with everyone, especially with children.
She enjoyed embroidery and embroidered some beautiful pillow cases, tablecloths and runners. She enjoyed reading the newspaper while eating breakfast, particularly the Kingsville Record and the Corpus Christi Caller Times.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life; her eyes would shine bright with happiness and love in the presence of her grandchildren whom she loved so dearly.
Angelita had a welcoming and accepting spirit towards everyone she met. She was a very social person and enjoyed visiting and sharing with others. Angelita will be deeply missed by her family and friends for her loving and caring ways and her kindness and giving heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose C. Rodriguez, Jr. and her daughter, Angela Rodriguez-Bricker, grandmother Isidra Campos Vasquez, father Daniel Vasquez, Sr., mother, Clara Ayala Vasquez, sister, Ofelia Alonzo and brother, Tomas Llanes.
Survivors include four daughters, Rosie (Ralph) Urias of San Antonio, Maria Elena (Chris) Salas of Albuquerque, NM, Esther (Sylvester) Gonzales of Round Rock, and Christina (Jeff) Bailey of San Antonio, one son, Jose C.
