Amando De La Rosa

Amando De La Rosa, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, in Kingsville, Texas, at the age of 67. He was born on April 29, 1957, in Robstown, Texas, and he led a life that exemplified strength, honor, and truth. Amando was known for his unwavering loyalty and many qualities that made him the person we all knew.

Throughout his life, Amando was a very hardworking and dependable man. He consistently put the needs of his family above his own. In his early years Amando worked for the King Ranch as a crew chief for the Laureles Division. He was employed by the city of Kingsville as a firefighter and EMT for 5 years. In the 90’s he owned and operated his own Mexican restaurant “Fiesta House.” He later went on to work for Dr. Roy J Hotz Jr. at his ranch in Riviera, Tx. He returned to construction by starting AJ’s Remodeling where he was a master carpenter for more than 20 years. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the Kingsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as Maintenance Supervisor for about 5 years. His last business venture started as 3A’s Lawn and Tree which evolved into 3A’s Home Improvement with his sons by his side.

Apart from his work Amando enjoyed spending time with his family. Many cherished moments were spent together going to Fiesta Texas. He enjoyed grilling, cooking, and billiards in his outdoor kitchen and game room that he built as well as making tamales which became a yearly tradition. In addition to his love for his family, Amando found joy going to flea markets, making piñatas, and teaching his sons about classic cars and motorcycles.

Amando is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Velma “Jeannie” De La Rosa, four sons and one daughter: Justin Aaron (Grecia) De La Rosa of Corpus Christi, Amando Jose De La Rosa Jr. of Benavides, Jacob Austin De La Rosa of Corpus Christi, Antonio Javier De La Rosa of Kingsville, and Jeannie Marie De La Rosa of Kingsville. Amando’s legacy continues through his five grandchildren, Christian Alexander De La Rosa, Emma Arabella De La Rosa, Amando De La Rosa III, Julian De La Rosa, and Jacquelyn De La Rosa. He is also survived by his siblings, Elizabeth De La Rosa, Alice Sherven, David De La Rosa, and Edwin De La Rosa, along with numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Sprocket De La Rosa, who brought joy and companionship to his life.

Amando was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Genaro and Maria De La Rosa, and siblings, Maggie and Johnny. Their legacy lives on through the values Amando instilled and the love he shared with his family.

In remembering Amando De La Rosa, we honor a man whose strength and compassion touched many lives. His spirit will live on in the stories shared by family and friends, reminding us all to embrace life's moments with love, creativity, and a determined heart.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Castaneda and their warm and caring staff for all the care they have given him over the years. We would also like to thank Turcotte-Piper and their staff in our time of need.

At the request of Amando, a small private visitation was held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, for his immediate family on April 11, 2025.
