Alton Remmers

Alton A. Remmers, age 99, went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2018. He was born on September 23, 1918 to Emil Remmers and Louise Wenzel Remmers in Lavaca County, Texas. Alton came to Kingsville, Texas in the late 1930's, served with the US Army during WWII, He had been an operator for Exxon Service Station at one time and one time worked for CP&L. He owned and operated the Country Estate RV & Mobil Home Park on FM 1717 for most of his life and had many other business properties in Kingsville, like the Yellow Cab Company, and an Apartment Complex on Angel Rd. He was a Charter member and a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Chairmen of Church Counsel and Charter Member of the Gideon Camp of Kingsville and served as President of the Gideon Camp several times. Alton was volunteer Fireman for over 22 years and held the rank of Captain. He served on the Zoning and Planning Board for the City of Kingsville, past City Commissioner, Past President of Kingsville Convention and Visitors Center, Lifetime member of the noontime Lions Club, Lifetime member of the American Legion Post #99, Lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, President of Big K Riding Club, team roping, and team pinning and a proud member of the Kleberg County Sheriffs Mounted Posse Patrol and life time member of the Mounted Peace Officers of Texas. Donated three registered Quarter Horses to the Lions Camp in Kerrville when they implemented a Riding Program for the children. He participated in plans to replace the Outside Arena at Kleberg Park. He is listed as one of the Millennium Pioneers who contributed to the Development of the Wild Horse Desert. Alton also volunteered with Little League in the Kingsville community.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian A. Maca Remmers and his late wife, Doris L. Sassman Wallner Remmers; brothers, Herbert, Elo, Paul and Alvin Remmers.
He is survived by his children; son, Alton Remmers Jr. (Rhonda) of Kingsville, TX; daughter, Barbara Bond (Larry Timmons) of Midland, TX; son, Hal Wallner (Sharon) of Spring, TX; son, Louis Wallner (Diana) of Spring, TX; grandchildren, Jason Remmers, Kristin Marcheck (Jason), Wesley Wallner (Danielle), Kari Wallner, Holly Wallner, Jeremy Wallner (Amy) and Janet Wallner and three, great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 1, 2018 at Turcotte Piper Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday June 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at The Trinity Lutheran Church 401 W. King Ave, Kingsville, TX. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.
In lieu flowers donation may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or donations may be made to Gideon.
The family would like to thank Nurses on Wheels Hospice for the great care they gave our dad, Alton. Special thanks to Hope Salinas, Deyanira Guerra, and Betty Villarreal.
