Alton Rae Brown, age 70, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born March 8, 1946 in San Diego, California to Jack Maylin Brown and Annabell Southworth Brown. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran during the Vietnam Era and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was employed for Fields Drilling Company and later was employed for Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Maylin Brown and Annabell Guinn.
Mr. Brown is survived by his loving companion, Y-Vette Cave of Kingsville; one son, Jack Rae Brown (Gaelynn) of Marble Falls, Texas; one daughter, Amanda Merriam (Robert) of Temple, Texas; one brother, Douglas Guinn (Kathy) of Leander, Texas; three sisters, Maylin Janney (Tex) of San Antonio, Texas, Betsy Black (Jim) of Licking, Missouri and Marietta Murchison (Dick) of Kingsville; five grandchildren, Jamie Merriam, Jacqueline Merriam, Carsyn Brown, Hadley Brown and Brynna Brown; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with Frank Baumann officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
A reception will follow immediately after the graveside service at the home of Dennis and Lynn Yaklin, 3750 Andron Lane (off Trant Road), Kingsville, Texas.
Active pallbearers will be Roger Pollard, J.B. Greene, Dennis Yaklin, 2nd Lt. Jacob T. Yaklin, Colton Cuny and Timothy Wright.
Memorials may be made to Animal Rescue - Kingsville (ARK) or to charity of one's choice.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
