Allen W. Pierce, age 70, a resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 in Bishop. He was born August 21, 1943 in Alice, Texas to George Taylor Pierce and Goldie Marie Barkley Pierce. Allen was employed for Celanese Chemical Plant for 33 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Gertrudes Catholic Church, Kingsville. He will always be remembered for his laughter, sense of humor, storytelling and passion for life. Allen was a man of character, great integrity, hardworking, and loyal. He enjoyed his ranch, wood working, gardening, volunteering with the local 4H Club and loved watching his children participate in sports.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Paul Bryan Pierce parents two sisters, Virginia Starr and Georgia Belle Campbell and two brothers, Edwin Pierce and Dowell Pierce.
Allen is survived by his wife of 48 years of marriage, Mary T. Pierce of Bishop one daughter, Tanya Lawhon Darrell of Bishop two sons, Wayne Pierce Jr. Jean of Bishop and Clint Pierce Andrea of Orange Grove, Texas one sister, Florence Kale of Athens, Texas five brothers, Bill Pierce Maxine of Atascosa, Texas, Clem Pierce Rosie of Alice, Texas, Ivan Pierce Mary of Corpus Christi, Texas, Irvan Pierce Denise and Felix Pierce Loretta, both of Alice seven grandchildren, Alana Gonzalez, Lindsay Pierce, Elizabeth Pierce, Paige Pierce, Justin Pierce, Leighton Lawhon and Pierce Little Man Lawhon and two greatgrandchildren, Steven Gonzalez and Caden Gonzalez.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church, Kingsville, with Fr. James Stembler as celebrant. Burial will follow in Bishop, Texas at Restland Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Pierce and Ivan Pierce.
Active pallbearers will be Clifton Honeycutt, Paul DuBose, Clem Pierce, Irvan Pierce, Felix Pierce, Olin Starr, Jerome Bollom and Sam Carter.
