Alberto Castillo, 49, passed away on April 17, 2021, after a brief illness in Corpus Christi, Texas. Albert was born October 24, 1971, in Kingsville, Texas, to Jose Isabel and Socorro Castillo. Albert graduated from H. M. King High School. He attended Texas A&M and received several other law enforcement certifications. After attending college, Alberto joined the Kleberg County Sheriff’s Office in June 2007 and attained the rank of Captain.
Albert was known as a very compassionate and dedicated law enforcement officer. Albert loved the Dallas Cowboys, watching wrestling on TV with the family; he was a declared Star Wars enthusiast, and unknown to many, he used to DJ in his younger days. His generous spirit and affection will always be remembered as “my cool uncle” by his nieces, nephews. Albert Castillo will always be remembered as a devoted and talented law enforcement professional to the community of Kingsville. He coordinated numerous community activities such as National Night Out and Toys for Tots, among others.
Captain Castillo is preceded by his parents Jose Isabel Castillo and Socorro Gomez Castillo; and brother Victor Castillo, all from Kingsville.
Albert is survived by his wife Sylvia Torres, step-son Frank Vela (Margaret), two grandchildren: Harlyn Vela and Aiyden Castillo. His siblings include Jesus I. Castillo (Cynthia), Nancy Castillo, Diana Castillo, and Francisco J. Castillo. He also had numerous nieces and nephews that will never forget him.
Kleberg County Sheriff’s Office professionals from Captain Castillo’s unit will be providing pallbearer services. Albert’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Kleberg County Sheriff Office, the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary funeral home, and Albert’s nursing teams that continue facing unprecedented challenges.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, with the Rosary to begin at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021, at St. Martin Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery. After services family is inviting everyone for a gathering at the Kleberg County Recreational Center.
