Aida R. Cantu

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Aida R. Cantu, a devoted mother and cherished grandmother. She faced her illness with incredible strength and grace before passing away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at the age of 75. She was known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering support. She was also a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She had a dedicated career in nursing for 50 years before retiring in 2020. She touched many lives of all ages throughout her career while she worked at nursing homes, hospitals, and as a school nurse. She selflessly helped others and never asked for anything in return. Her greatest love was her family. She spent every moment with her children and grandchildren offering her love, wisdom, and unwavering support. Her hobbies included gardening, baking, and sewing. Her memory will forever live in our hearts.

Aida is preceded in death by her parents, Mateo and Altagracia Rodriguez, and her brother, Robert (Bobby) Rodriguez.

She is survived by her children, son Ernie (Kim) Cantu, and daughter Missy (Bobby) Garcia; grandchildren Cameron Cantu, Madison Cantu, Taylor Garcia, and Kevin Garcia. She is also survived by her siblings, Lydia Cavazos, Irma (Dave) Woolever, Elvia Rodriguez, Oscar (Mary) Rodriguez, and Letty (Bano) Cavazos, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Aida’s hard work, dedication, and love for her family will continue to resonate through the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her, along with all the joy and warmth that she brought to their lives.

The family will receive condolences from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 1:30 p.m. A service in her honor will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on the same day.
