Aida Magdalena Benevides Cabaza, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away July 15, 2024, at home surrounded by her loved ones in Kingsville, Texas. Aida known to many as Maggie was born on November 15, 1938, in Kingsville, Texas to Ignacio and Berta Vera Benavides.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Rafael Raul Cabaza Jr., her parents, grandparents, and beloved brother Arnoldo V. (Andrea) Benavides.
She is survived by her only loved son John Anthony Morales, stepchildren Raul (Cindy) Cabaza, Aaron (Norma) Cabaza, Judith (Romeo) Perez, David (Judy) Cabaza, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. she is also survived by her siblings: Zulema E. Yates, Roel (Raquel) Benavides, Alicia B. (Mario) Prado, and Alma D. (George) Garcia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Maggie graduated H.M. King Highschool and went on to graduate from Texas A and I University with a B.S. and Masters degree in Education and Administration Certifications. She taught school in several school districts including Kingsville I.S.D. where she eventually became a school principal at McRoberts and Harvey Elementary. She was also a curricular coordinator for Kingsville I.S.D. She devoted her life to education for 38 years and also worked with Texas Education Agency in Austin.
Maggie was a loving and caring person to all. She also enjoyed being with her family, cooking, reading, and traveling to Vegas.
We will celebrate her life on July 25, with a viewing at 5:00pm at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary followed by a Rosary at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am the following day, July 26, at St. Martin's Catholic Church.
