Abraham C. Flores III, 79, went to be with our Lord and entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at home, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on February 10, 1940, in Kingsville, Texas, to Abraham C. Flores Jr. and Amada Cavazos Flores. Abraham proudly served in the Army National Guard for 38 years. He was employed at the Corpus Christi Army Depot and the Kingsville Naval Air Station where he retired after 28 years. He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church where he served as lector and past member of St. Martin’s Mutualistas Fellowship. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2623, where he held many offices including Grand Knight, Vice-President, District Deputy, Warden and Trustee. Within the Knights of Columbus, he was bestowed the most prestigious degree by becoming a member of the Fourth Degree. As an outstanding Sir Knight, he was dedicated to the service of God, country and the Order. He served as Faithful Navigator, Faithful Admiral, Trustee and Color Corp member. He also served the K.C. Council 2623 as Family Director, Church Director, Faith Director, and served on countless committees. He was a past President, Secretary and Board member of the Años de Oros/Casa de Paz Housing Project.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Abraham C. Flores Jr. and Amada Cavazos Flores; two sisters, Enriqueta Pena of Kingsville, Texas, Viola Leal of Corpus Christi, Texas, and his brother Rene Flores of Nashville, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the love of his life, Hilda Ybarra Flores, his three daughters, Nelda (Ralf) Arredondo of Fort Worth, Texas, Delma (Andy) Loera of Kingsville, Texas and Rosalie Flores of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister Janie Garcia of Kingsville, Texas and one brother, Israel Flores (Geraldine) of Belleville, Illinois; his beloved grandchildren, Amy Loera and Adam Loera of Kingsville, Texas, Nicole (Jeremy) and Joel (Diana) Arredondo of Fort Worth, Texas; great grandchildren, Logan Lowe, Sawyer Lowe and Noah Arredondo, all of Fort Worth, Texas. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019, with a Memorial Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Kingsville, Texas. Graveside service and full military honors will be held at the Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.
