Carl Harper, 70, passed away peacefully in the late afternoon on July 11, 2020 in Kingsville, Tx. He was born on September 29, 1949 in Mullins, South Carolina to Grace Phipps.
Carl had an amazing life story which included 24 years serving in the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer Air Traffic Controller and a strong commitment to the Elks. He truly loved the Elks and the programs they supported. Carl served in many capacities as an Elk at the Lodge, District, State, and Grand Lodge levels. At the time of his passing, he was serving as the Director for the Texas Elks Children’s Services, representing the South District. Carl was also recently awarded The President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, signed by President Donald Trump, for his lifelong commitment to building a stronger nation through his volunteer service.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Grace; sister, Sally Saunders; and brother, Johnny Harper.
Carl is survived by his wife, Susan Harper; children, Michael (Becky) Harper, Mark Harper, Christine Hodo; five grandchildren; brothers, Virgil Harper, George Wallace, Terry Wallace, and Gordon Wallace; sisters, Ann Lacy, and Lee Price.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rajeev Narang and Dr. Tarun Madappa for their excellent care and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary.
